CDRRMO orders coastal kapitans to keep list of fishermen

OZAMIZ CITY: The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CDRRM) has directed all the coastal village chiefs to maintain an updated list of fishermen in their respective localities.

Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog Sr. said the list should include the kind of fishing vessels that fishermen operate.

The list is a must for barangays San Antonio, Doňa Consuelo, Maningcol, Catadman, Carmen Annex, Baybay Triunfo, Baybay Sta. Cruz, San Roque, Tinago, Malaubang, Pulot, Dimaluna, Tabid and Sinuza.

Fishing boats or vessels are marine vessels engaged in fishing activities, which may be driven by paddle or by motor engine, including those weighing up to five metric tons.

Barangay chiefs are to advise the fishermen in case of a storm warning signal and implement strictly a “no seafaring” rule to any fishing boat or vessel to avoid any disaster.

In the event that a fisherman or fishing boat sailed during an enforced tropical storm warning signal, the chieftains must immediately report the incident to the CDRRM office, the mayor added.
