Sapang Dalaga needs help in getting rid of scrap bridge

OROQUIETA CITY: Saying it is heavy and a snag, Sapang Dalaga now wants their scrap bailey bridge in Brgy, Dioyo disposed; the problem is they lack the equipment to set it out.

A new PIA report said the local government, through its municipal DRRMC, is seeking the endorsement of the PDRRMC, which in turn, is endorsing the same to the Regional DRRMC.

PIA said such endorsement was made by Gain Paul De Barras, PDRRM officer, in a recent meeting held here.

The PDRRMC has already made a physical and visual inspection in the area where the bailey bridge lay along the eroded embankment of a river in Dioyo.

The inspection team said the edge is now deformed by erosion, leaving just a little clearance from where residential houses are built near the waterway.

The scrap baily bridge is beneath the existing national bridge and is causing a hitch of water flow which side track from going to Dioyo and instead to the neighboring Brgy. Makabibo.

Protecting the barangay roadway from flooding and erosion, including the houses and properties from possible erosion in the area, is the main aim of this request, De Barras said.
