Napolcom-9 chief arrested for alleged extortion

ZAMBOANGA CITY: Police arrested last Sunday, Dec. 14, in an entrapment operation, National Police Commission (Napolcom) Region-9 director Atty. Macapado T. Guro for alleged extortion.

Guro was arrested here after two noncommissioned officers of the Isabela Central Police Station reported him of supposedly extorting from them, ZCPO spokeperson Supt. Ariel Huesca said.

Guro allegedly asked for P10,000 each for the administrative case filed against the two officers to be dismissed.

The two unnamed policemen are facing administrative cases before Napolcom for their absence in a court hearing against a suspect for his murder and illegal possession of firearms case.

The two cops were able to record the first transaction last week in a city pension house between Guro and one of the officers.

Isabela City Police C/Supt. Albert Larubis said that in another transaction at the same place, Guro “was caught in the act of receiving the bribe money from the second law enforcer.”

Santa Maria Station 7 commander Supt. Diomare Albarico Albarico said Guro was taken to the Police Region 9 Office at Camp Romeo Abendan for UV light powder dusting and documentation.
