Hundreds of Malaybalay residents move out of danger zone

MALAYBALAY CITY: Almost 400 people from Panamukan and Bulo-an in Brgy. San Jose, this city, evacuated to elementary schools, Friday morning, a new PIA report said.

The said residents were advised to calm down and wait until Wednesday night for PAGASA's advisory if typhoon Ruby will take the same path as Yolanda or go towards Japan.

CDRRMC operations officer Alan Comiso, said Mayor Ignacio Zubiri has ordered forced evacuation, particularly for residents in the unsafe zone.

Typhoon Ruby’s erratic behavior has prompted the CDRRMC to call an emergency meeting to warn people to prepare.

Both Panamukan and Bulo-an of barangay San Jose are prone to floods and landslides.

Comiso said they urged residents to evacuate so as not to repeat their experience from typhoon Pablo last year when a landslide hit the area.

The city government put the military on full alert as food packs, medicines, units of heavy equipment and transportation were readied while workers opened evacuation centers, especially in far-flung villages, which could be cut off by heavy rains.
