Store owner, salesladies arrested for selling overpriced face masks


Tangub city—The owner of Super 829 Shopping Center here and several and sales persons were arrested by the Maritime PS together with a representative from both the provincial offices of DTI and DOH during an entrapment operation.

PNP Provincial Director PCol. Danildo Tumanda said the arrest was made last April 7 at the shopping center’s address at Brgy II, First Street, this city.

The operation was based from a report from a concerned citizen about an overpriced face masks being sold at the said establishment.

Making definite its truthfulness, a validation was conducted where it was confirmed that the store is selling the face mask at a cost comparatively higher than the prevailing market price regulated by the DTI.  

The operation is based on the strict implementation of the ‘Bayanihan Heal as One Act’ and ‘Price Act’ wherein the perpetrators violated by selling overpriced alcohol.

The suspects will be facing cases violating RA 11469 (Bayanihan Heal as One Act), RA 7581 (Price Act) as amended by RA 10623 and RA 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines).
